Professor Akin Osibogun was appointed as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on 11 October 2006.
Prof. Osibogun was born in Lagos. He had medical training at University of Lagos; post graduate training in Public Health at Columbia University in New York and went through residency programme of the National Post Graduate College and the West African College of Physicians.
He is a Fellow of the National Post Graduate College of Nigeria, a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and was a visiting Fellow in Epidemiology at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom. He received training also at the School of Public Health, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He is the former Head of Department of Community Health in LUTH and a doctor’s doctor.
Prof. Osibogun’s focus is to reposition the hospital and replan its services, training and research for which it was established in 1962. LUTH will be promoting the delivery of quality health services that are relevant to the needs of society in a cost effective manner.
Prof. Osibogun supports the Public Private Sector Partnership because it brings additional funding, additional expertise and additional styles of management into the process.
He is looking forward to a new LUTH. A Lagos University Teaching Hospital that is highly responsive. A LUTH that renders first class health services. A LUTH with good public image in terms of patients’ satisfaction and confidence.
