BRIEF HISTORY OF CLINICAL SERVICES AND TRAINING
The Clinical Services and Training Division, which is also referred to as the
Directorate of Clinical Services and Training was created at the inception of
LUTH in 1962.
The Clinical Services and Training Division has always been headed by an
Assistant Director of Administration who reports directly to the Chairman
Medical Advisory Committee on Clinically related matters and to the
Director of Administration, on Administrative duties of the division.
In the forty-four (44) years of its existence, the division has had many
notable heads such as Mr. B. O. Nelson, Mr. O. A. O. Onabowale and
presently I Mrs. A. F. Akinwande, a Deputy Secretary.
The division has over the years been blessed with men and women of high
repute, tireless and hardworking members of staff who carry out their duties
in an atmosphere that is conducive.
The Directorate of Clinical Services and Training handle clinically related matters in the Hospital and Services some Board Committees, clinically related Committees as well as Adhoc Committees.

(b) Confirmation of Eligibility for upgrading, Sponsorships for Post graduate Examinations, Year Abroad. e.t.c.
(c) Doctors' claims: Revision course, Research Methodology, update courses and Dissertation.
(d) Completion/Withdrawal from Residency Training Programme

3. Matters with old residents Doctors due to leave/monitoring.
4. Monitoring and overseeing the compendium of Resident Doctors.
5. Matters relating to Basic and Post Basic Training Schools.
6. Consultant Appointments/Normative Ceilings
7. Clinical Attachments Programmes
8. Matters relating to the following Basic and Post Basic Training schools (Like admissions, Lecture fees e. t. c.
(i) School of Nursing and Midwifery
(ii) School of Health Information Technology
(iii) School of Medical Laboratory Sciences
(iv) Post Basic Nursing Programmes
(v) Community Health Officers Course .

ACHIEVEMENT:
Despite the shortage of necessary tools, equipments and manpower for
excellent performance of duties, the division ensured that all its functions are
carried out without fear or favour.
STRENGTHS AND OPPORTUNITIES
The strengths and opportunities of the Directorate is the fact that the
Division is able to render service"s to Consultants, Resident Doctors,
students of Basic and Post Basic Training Schools. e. t. c. within the rules
and regulations set up by the hospital. The Directorate also generate and
make recommendations and forward committee decisions to the
Management on how to move the hospital forward while operating within
the guiding principles of the various training programmes.
However, such services are sometimes impeded by lack of necessary
equipment and Manpower. The Division is in dire need of one more
computer and a photocopy machine.
