ProfileOmolara G. Uti is currently Associate Professor of Community Dentistry at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and a Honorary consultant to Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi Araba, Lagos Nigeria where she has been working as a Community dentist, lecturer and researcher since 2005. She graduated as a dental surgeon in 1987 and got a Postgraduate fellowship in Community Dentistry from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2004 as well as a Masters degree in Public Health in the 2000. She won the IADR Colgate award in prevention in 2010 and the IADR BEHSR Lois Cohen International Travel Award in June 2014. She has been an active member of the International Association for Dental Research since 2005. Her passion for IADR led her to form a Student Research group at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and encouraging students to present their final year projects at numerous IADR meetings. Two of such students have won awards at the meetings. They are Miss Jadesola Onigbanjo ( BEHSR Lois Cohen travel award 2013) and Mr Aminu Quadri ( J Morita The Jonathan Ship Award 2014 (Pre-doctoral) Her research interests have been focused on Tobacco use and prevention, oral health education on Oral cancer as well as dental education in Nigeria. She runs a smoking cessation clinic at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital dental center in addition to providing Dental Community services in various locations. She is currently the Coordinator for Residency programme for the Department of Preventive Dentistry.
